Network section in Finder

Does someone knows what is the Network section about? I'm new to Mac and I'm not sure what it means. Is the maxis gateway happen to be my router's problem or something? Some webpage won't show in safari and direct me to the maxis broadband page.

Network lists the resources available on your local network (servers, network disks, routers providing some type of network sharing, PCs, etc.). Basically everything is reachable (and compatible) on the network.

The maxisgateway is probably a modem/router containing a USB port for sharing purposes (e.g. a USB disk can be attached and shared locally).
