Background Battery Drain IOS 13.5 iPhone XS Max

Hello.

i am having substantial battery drain on my iPhone XS Max. I’m not sure what’s wrong. I already did a hard reset and it doesn’t fix it. At night I place my iPhone on the night stand with battery in the 50s and I wake up with it hovering around 20. It happens during the day too even thought I have background refresh disabled. I’ve tried placing the phone in battery save mode at night and it still happens. I’ve checked battery drain and notice apps are consuming a lot of battery in the background but it is never the same app. They vary from day to day. This has never happened to me before. I am pretty knowledgeable but not sure what could be causing this. I’ve included some pictures to illustrate the problem. I have more if needed. I’m on iOS 13.5. Thanks for the help.

Two things @PJMED

First, I actually have The Weather (Channel) on my phone. It wasn't pegged at "1hr" background usage, but did use about 10-15 minutes of it (over 36 minutes of an hour, when I checked). This is high, but not abnormal.

In that case, it was closed (wasn't active/front/open/minimized). But I have a widget that I occasionally view.

Second - iOS 13.5.1 came out. Anyone see differences? I would presume Apple would have to acknowledge/admit the issue before fixing it...

Hi.

Thanks for posting. It is not a problem with the battery. My usage is the same as always, hasn’t changed. I at first I assumed a problem with an app but if you look at the pictures provided you will notice several different apps having the same problem. Please look at the screen provided carefully. The provide a ton of info. For example, that first one is from TODAY at 6:40AM when I woke up. If you look carefully you can see that the CNN and MarketWatch have been running in the background NON STOP while I was sleeping. Keep in mind I wasn’t using the phone (I was sleeping) and that I have background refresh disabled. I’m not saying it is iOS 13.5 (although it could be) but it is NOT a hardware issue. This is a software issue. Again, thanks for the help.
