iPad scanner not working

I'm in the UK and my daily paper has a code you can scan in daily. When you have entered 30 numbers you get some money back. For well over a month now, the scan hasn't worked so I am wondering if an update has screwed it up. I haven't changed any settings at all and it's frustrating when you have to keep changing the keyboard for upper case letters and numbers😖. Can anyone come up with a solution?

Can't really add any more than already said. The scanner used to pick up the code automatically without me having to do anything. It was then entered directly into my account with the newspaper. It then stopped scanning. I haven't changed any settings at all on the IPad so I presumed there was probably an update which has stopped the app from working.
