Apple ID update

I just purchased a new Apple iPad pro 12.9 and during the set up it won't totally finish the updates to my Apple ID. It had 3 updates or so to do. It did all but the last one. Now it shows in the settings app that there is one update to my ID left to do but it just hangs there. I let it go for almost 4 hours yesterday to update it just won't do it. I have contacted support about it and the tech person tried to get it to work but couldn't either. He let it go at that and hoped it would "correct" itself in time. Anyone else have issues like this and if so, were you able to fix it? I have tried logging in and out. I have tried resetting the iPad completely and starting over, it still does it. I could use any advice or if anyone else is having this issue. Thanks.

I tried that yesterday with no luck. Today I updated all my Apple devices to 2 factor authentication and the update went away. I have multiple Apple devices and until ALL of them we’re onboard with the 2 factor authentication, it wouldn’t go away. I finally resolved it. Thank you for your assistance and suggestion Eric Root.

I tried that yesterday with no luck. Today I updated all my Apple devices to 2 factor authentication and the update went away. Some people have fixed this by signing out of iCloud, restarting their device, and then logging back in. That hasn't worked for everyone.


There was a post that stated this was a problem that Apple is aware of and is trying to fix.

You say: "I let it go for almost 4 hours yesterday to update it just won't do it." Do you really need the update? I doubt any update should take this long. I'd just forget about it for a while and come back to it later. There have been some recent problems because of Apple server maintenance, but I don't think that is likely to be the source of your problem.
