I have a harddrive, its set on read only and i can not change it.
Googling on the questions shows me there should be a checkbocks that
says "Ignore ownership on this volume" at the bottom of the "Sharing
& Permissions tab" info. I do not have that chekbox, how do I change
it??
Macs can not write to NTFS formatted drives. If you were writing to this drive in the past you were using a third party app such as Paragon or Tuxera to provide the writing functionality. You can reformat the drive for Mac or get an updated version of your third party app. My recommendation is to reformat for Mac.
Caution: Formatting will cause the loss of all data currently on the drive. Copy off the data before formatting.

What format is the drive?
In utilities it says : USB External Physical Volume • NTFS (Windows NT File System)
