Why is that I took 7000+ photos on my iPhone8 and I am already out of storage

So recently I switched to a iPhone8 with 64GB and my previous iphone7 had 32GB. Why is that I took 7000+ photos on my iPhone8 and I am already out of storage when my previous iphone7 was able to hold 10000+ photos and had half the storage capacity of my new iPhone8? My photos in the iphone7 were Live Photos which means it should take up more space but my iPhone8 I used traditional photos and I’m already ran out.

It's also possible that Live Photos is enabled on your iPhone 8 (that's the default in recent versions of iOS). With Live Photos enabled whenever you take a photo you get both the still photo + a QuickTime .mov file. It takes 2 steps to disable Live Photos:

  • iPhone Camera - turn off Live photos
  • iPhone Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings > Disable Live Photo

Not sure what you can do about this for any existing .mov files for your 7000+ photos; I don't know of any way to delete just the .mov files. Perhaps someone else can answer that.
