Crackling left speaker after update

I updated my 2019 16-inch macbook pro last night to the most recent operating system (macOS Catalina Version 10.15.4). This evening my left speaker started crackling no matter how loud my volume was and in different applications (e.g. Chrome, Spotify, etc.) I just bought the laptop in March 2020 so it is not even three months old yet. I have not experienced this issue before. I don't believe that a speaker is blown (I generally play audio at lower volume and again, the laptop is very new).

From browsing the apple forums, I tried resetting the SMC but did not experience any success. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how did you fix it? This issue is not only disappointing but also incredibly irritating, as I cannot listen to any audio on my computer without hearing this noise.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand you're hearing some unexpected feedback from your Mac speakers. I am happy to help get this resolved.

Resetting the SMC was a great first step! I also recommend testing if this behavior happens while using any built in apps, like Music. Testing safe mode can also help resolve or isolate unexpected behavior, so if you haven't already done that, you can see how to here: How to use safe mode on your Mac

If this behavior persists in safe mode, or after restarting, try using a pair of headphones to see if this continues. You can see hoot change the output here: Change the sound output settings on Mac

There is a large thread about this issue here. It provides a lot of information about the problem, including possible workarounds. But the root of the problem (whether software or otherwise) has not yet been fixed by Apple.

It is a known issue that Apple says they will fix but it is now July and they still have not.

I should add that the above thread is only about the problem in the 2019 16" MacBook Pro.

I have the same issue with my MAC PRO 2017 Retina - first it was only the left speaker , now boh speakers right after updating to Catalina . The whole MAC experience is gone with these crackling speakers.

I have tried pretty much everything posted ont his community but invain. Headphones work fine but all other audio from any player is crackling -

Fix please @ Apple ?
