The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8084).
I got the error code 8084 when I was trying to copy some files from my ReadyNAS 524X to an external hard drive. I am running macOS Catalina 10.15.4 on a MacBook Pro with 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. I can't find anything on this error.
In the Locations section on the left pane in Finder, there are 2 network locations listed: RFPX_NAS (AFP), and RFPXNAS (macOS set this name up without the underscore). The ReadyNAS has the name RFPX_NAS. I always open the network location without the underscore, per directions by someone at the Genius Bar. Should I switch to using the AFP location for all operations in macOS Catalina that access the NAS drive?
I also run Windows 10 on the MacBook Pro, using Parallels Desktop 15. I have a drive mapped in Windows that is connected to the Videos folder on the ReadyNAS, and Windows Explorer can read the subfolders and MP4 videos on the NAS. My TV also has Plex installed, and it can play the movies that are saved on the ReadyNAS. When I look at the properties of the Videos folder mapped in Parallels 15 (most recent Windows 10 is installed), it shows the path to be \\Mac\AllFiles\Volumes.
The issue is not in Windows 10 or Parallels 15, however, because I got error code 8084 when Parallels was not even running. I just wanted to include the path in Windows as additional information to solve my problem on the MacBook.
I suppose the issue could be because of the way I set up the ReadyNAS, so please let me know if you think I should ask my question on the Netgear forum instead of here. Or maybe the Genius Bar.
Thanks for any information you have on this.
