Messenger app says “Log in from the paired iPhone”

Hello! I recently got an Apple Watch series 3 about a month ago. I have had the Facebook messenger app on it the entire time and never had any issues. Within the last few days, anytime I open the app on my watch it says “Log in from the paired iPhone” even though I am already logged in on my phone. I still receive notifications from the app but cannot actually view my messages within the app.

I have tried several troubleshooting methods such as updating my phone (to iOS 13.5.1), restarting both my iPhone and my watch, deleting and re-downloading the app off of both my phone and watch, and even resetting my Apple Watch.

At one point, the problem went away when I deleted and re-downloaded the app on my watch, however it came back as soon as I tried opening the app again.

Nothing has worked. Please help!! I use this app every day.
