USB-C to lightning adapter for data transfer.

Has anyone found an adapter to convert a usb-c port to lightning. I have a sonic port device that I want to connect with my 2018 ipad pro. Unfortunately the sonic port provides lightning connector and the ipad pro has a usb-c. I assume that the standard converters won’t work as they are limited to charging or for connecting headphones.

You would require an interface converter. Connecting Lightning (an Apple proprietary interface) to USB is not simply wiring exercise; the two interfaces are electrically different - and use entirely different signalling and data protocols.

To my knowledge, nobody (including Apple) has produced a USB-C to Lightning interface converter. Apple has never seen necessity in converting USB-C interfaces to a lower bandwidth restricted interface. Being a proprietary standard owned by Apple, other manufacturers would need to licence their access to Lightning from Apple.

As to your final question, the Lightning to USB Type-A cable incorporates a USB 2.0 Controller chip within the Lightning connector.
