my iphone xs is going through a boot loop and nothing was wrong with the device before. how can i fix this and is there a way to save the content on the phone?

Most likely it won’t solve the problem, but if the first few steps do you will still have your content. Beyond that there is no way to save content unless you backed it up to your computer, or backed it up to iCloud, or synced it to iCloud.
