Catalina compatibility for Lexmark Printer/Scanner
I am trying to make my lexmark scanner operational with my iMac. I am using macOS Catalina 10.15.5

Go to Applications, open Image Capture and see if it recognizes your scanner.
If it does, then you can use Image Capture instead of the Lexmark scan-ware.
If not, then you will need to go to the Lexmark web site and see if they have a Catalina update for the scan-ware.
