I have the 1st generation AirPods with the self charger, my question is can I use the regular charger I charged that 1 with? I do not have this new charger unit yet and it didn’t come with my AirPods, the chord did but I don’t have this connection piece

It looks like you have the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes with the AirPods Pro. It is perfectly fine to use a USB-A to Lightning cable to charge your AirPods Pro case
I’m not aware that there is a benefit choosing one over the other. It’s just the cable they were shipped with
