Apple ID verification failed
I keep getting an error when trying to log into my Apple ID saying “verification failed, The application you have selected does not exist”
this is on my iPhone 8, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 2.

I'm also experiencing this today (June 2, 2020), but on a Mac.
Maybe some more detail that could help: this morning I got an error "Your Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." Not entirely sure what happened, I went through the recommended steps and reset my password on a MacBook Pro (2019 - work laptop), and then logged in to AppleID/iCloud again. I repeated this on my iPhone XS successfully. I was also able to log in to my AppleTV successfully.
This evening, I opened up my MacBook Pro (2015 - personal laptop) and got prompted to log back in with Apple ID - not surprising. But I got the "The application you have selected does not exist" error repeatedly. I rebooted also. No luck.
Edit: There is indeed an issue ongoing - if you look at https://www.apple.com/ca/support/systemstatus/ - there is an outage listed:
iCloud Account & Sign In - Issue
Today, 5:16 PM - ongoing
Some users are affected
Users may be unable to sign in.
(note that's EDT, so the issue was known almost 2hrs prior to the original post, and almost 3hrs from now.

The update worked
It wasn't an update issue. Apple had a server issue that has now been resolved.
Solve !! Update to new IOS version and we fine
Apple had an issue with the iCloud, it has been resolved now. I did call customer care and they confirmed that.

I manually checked for updates and installed an update to fix this issue.
What fixed the issue was Apple resolving their server issue.
You can reset it by going to iforgot.apple.com
I also was asked to sign in to post to this forum and the system accepted my password. It's not working on iPhone, iPad or for the Apple Store. The support line is also jammed, so it may be a general problem.
Could it be because you haven’t updated the systems on these devices? I am having the same issue with my iPhone 6+ and iPhone 7+, where both phones aren’t allowing me to log in. But I have updated my iPhone XR and I don’t have that issue. Does anyone else have any ideas to resolve this?
Getting same error — can't pay off Apple Card because of this. :/
I think Apple's auth servers are having issues
Looks like about 5 minutes ago all users started experiencing this issue. Apple will have to fix it asap as they will lose money when people can't purchase anything from the app store.
David
Just had the same issue.
I did some research and multiple are having it. All today. Sounds like a bad update with iOS 13.5.1
If you have another apple device and do the verification through that it should work. It will send you a verification code to your phone after you login then it’ll work.
I'm having the same exact problems... First started on the apple website when attempting to check out items... Then I had it on my phone... Then my imac cloud.... I'm going to restart my devices, update, and restart again... I'll wait 15 minutes to allow any password blockouts to reset etc...
After getting this error, I wanted to change my password. Luckily I've came across posts where people couldn't login into their devices. So it'll be just waiting for a fix. Or maybe someone at apple restarted a server???
I've also received an update on all my devices. So updating now.
Me too. Then I saw I had a update to download and install. My iPad air 2 is in the process of downloading and installing the update. I don't have another iOS device now to resend a verification code so if the update doesn't work apple should fix our devices for FREE!
Definitely me too. iPad 11 pro max and iPad Air 3. They are different software versions and it worked before, so it isn’t a software problem.
There is a current iCloud sign in issue, which could be related. But they should really put a yellow status on Apple Pay.
if they’re going to promote these services, they need to have minimal downtime. And own up to it and fix it.
