setting up new iphone7

I am doing the set up on my new iphone7 and it keeps sending the verification code to that phone. (the old one is dead)... and I can't see my texts to get the verification code, because the phone isn't set up yet... I have an alternate phone number that also cannot receive texts at this time. How do I get the verification code to complete the set up? I tried logging in to icloud to see if I could access it that way - with no luck. So do I now have to just manually re set everything? or find a number I can receive text on at least temporarily?.... help!
