Content of draft email sometimes disappear

When I want to save an email that I am not finished composing, I use the red button to close it. Then I select the highlighted option to save it to the Drafts folder. Sometimes this works as it is supposed to, but sometimes the email appears to be in the Drafts folder, but the contents have disappeared -- and the draft says "no content". What do I do? Is there some way to reconstruct this email? Is there a way to prevent this from happening in the future? I am using a new iMac just like my husband's. He does not have this problem. Please help! Thank you.

Hello 32Edgewood,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your question that sometimes your drafts do not save the whole message you have composed. I can certainly help you with this!

This article will be a good resource for you. It will walk you through the necessary steps to resolve the question.

Save draft emails in Mail on Mac

There is a way to "manually save" the draft before closing that should save the whole thing.

"Save a draft

  1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, make sure you’re in the message that you want to save.
  2. Choose File > Save.
  3. You can also close the message window, then click Save in the dialog that appears."

I hope this is able to resolve your issue. If you have any more questions or this does not resolve your issue, please reach back out on the thread!

Cheers.
