magic keyboard delete button not working in markup

When using markup and inserting text, the delete button on magic keyboard won’t do anything. If you make a mistake you have to delete the full text box and start again. I don’t think it is an issue with the button as if you switch to another app the button works fine. Just seems to be when trying to delete text as inputted in markup mode.

I’m using the Magic keyboard with 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 version.
