Can’t update/pair watch

my Apple Watch wasn’t paired to my phone so I reset it so that I could pair it again. When I tried to re-pair it required an update to My Watch. In order to install the update it’s says that my Watch needs to be connected to the internet. I can’t access any type of Bluetooth or WiFi until I pair my Watch which I can’t do without the update. How do I pair my Watch???

Hello, angelicafromsanta rosa.

I understand that you need a bit of assistance setting up your Apple Watch after resetting it. I’m glad to help!

When setting up an Apple Watch, it doesn’t need to be connected to the Internet initially. Consider that a new device, fresh out of the box, has never been connected to the Internet. The iPhone should do most of the heavy lifting. The Apple Watch User Guide chapter, Set up and pair Apple Watch with iPhone, will take you through the steps.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

- If you see a watch face when you’re trying to pair: Your Apple Watch is already paired to an iPhone. You need to first erase all Apple Watch content and reset settings.
- If the camera doesn’t start the pairing process: Tap Pair Apple Watch Manually at the bottom of the iPhone screen, and follow the onscreen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Be Well.
