The Macbook first freezes and after that the fans wil blow on max speed for a very short time followed by a black screen. The Macbook shows a popup at reboot with the error as stated above.

The device is a MacBook Pro 16" 2019 2,6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7.

What can I do to solve this error? I already ran a diagnostic mode (by pushing the 'D' while booting).

Have a similar issue. Happens to me when I plug/unplug my Thunderbolt dock.

Doesn't always happen, but seems to be a similar pattern.

  • Plug in to dock
  • Monitor works fine, peripherals don't
  • Unplug from dock
  • Plug back in
  • Fans spin up real quick, system restarts

Only things I have connected to the docker are a set of headphones, ethernet, and my monitor.

I am getting the same exact issue with a brand new 2020 Imac. I am frustrated because I paid over $3k for this spec'd out computer and I've seen it crash on me more times in less than a week, that my old macbook pro crashed in an entire year. Issue seems to happen when I have my thunderbolt 3 hard drive running backups or accessing data (I use a lot of video editing tools) I sent back the drive for a new one, hoping it's the drive and not this new machine.

Later edit to my first comment a few days ago:

After installing the BETA Big Sur, the problem did not occur anymore when the MacBook would go in Sleep mode, but instead it happened when it restarted. Every-time I booted my macbook (after being shut down), I entered my password to log in and then the mac would just restart in a loop.

Fortunately, after a few tries I successfully managed to boot into the OS and saw these two errors pop up:

Did a quick search after "crowdstrike" in Finder and found some start-up items in Library/LaunchDaemons folder.

Apparently these were the culprits that were hindering the macbook to boot correctly. At least for me.

After removing these 2 files from the LaunchDaemons folder, I had no other panic attack - either in Sleep or when shutting the macbook down.

This is probably not the case for you, but thought I might share my experience with the problem.

Hi,

It seems to me, it's a hardware, CPU issue. Following document could help your question.

https://blog.asset-intertech.com/test_data_out/2018/09/debug-of-intel-caterr.html

You'd better contact Apple support or take your MacBook Pro to Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined it.

Or if your country's retail Apple Stores are open, make Genius Bar reservation to ask about the crash.

The reason I changed to a new Mac Mini was my mac pro was doing this, only purchased late 2020 and guess what, the new mac mini that cost me about £1200 is doing the same. Apple just fob you off, it's not hardware related, it's just an increasingly buggy OS. If I run youtube in safari and parallels/windows 10 at the same time I'm almost guaranteed one of these freezes. Utter junk!

Hi, I have the same problem on the same computer model MBP16" with the similar configuration. More than one year I have no any problems. now computer crashes appears while computer is doing something like copying big amount of files or during the gameplay. Also I start seeing computer crashes while its slipping. I suspect that all problems have been started after one of MacOS updates. I can't update to a BigSur for now continue suffering from this problem

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) Catalina 10.15.7

Hello, had the same problem for a few months now on Catalina OS on a MacBook Pro 2018 15".

I found a fix for it - I installed the BETA version of Big Sur (20A5395g), which is pretty stable and received no panic attack after leaving the laptop to sleep even overnight.

If you want to do it, keep in mind that this is a BETA OS and you are taking a risk by installing it.

If you haven't yet registered as a developer you need to enroll in the program - here.

  1. Go to developer.apple.com
  2. Click on Discover > macOS > Download and sign in with your developer account or Apple ID.
  3. Click on Install Profile to download the new macOS Developer Beta Access Utility to your Mac.
  4. Go to Downloads on your Mac and click on the new macOS Developer Beta Access Utility to open it.
  5. Double click on the macOSDeveloperBetaAccessUtility.pkg and the installer will run.
  6. Once new macOS beta is installed Software Update (in System Preferences) will check to see if there are any updates. Click Update and the latest version will download.
  7. You'll see a prompt to install the software, click on Continue.
  8. Agree to the Ts&Cs (more on them below).
  9. Click Install.

I've had the same issue in the last two days.

I have my MPB 16" 2019 which I use with an old 27" Thunderbolt display. What I usually do is this:

  • I lock the screen
  • I close the lid of the laptop
  • I unplug the monitor
  • I unplug the power
  • Sometimes I have my airpods box plugged in and I unplug it as well.

So far, I didn't pay close attention to the order but I usually I unplug the monitor first then the power.

Also, I never got one while I was working - I've had the laptop since August 2020.

I sent the report to Apple.

I'm joining this thread. Just upgraded to a refurbished 2019 16" - I was hoping these types of issues would be worked out by now... My system is crashing/rebooting constantly. I've noticed an issue with the graphics right before it crashes. If I have it hooked up to an external monitor it will go all green too. Apple support advised me to do a fresh install as diagnostics (pressing D after power on) showed no hardware issue...

I have this issue too with my MacBook Pro 16' 2019 that I bought end of March 2020.

I tried everything including clean installation of the lastest MacOS, no installation of software, no attachment of any USB devices except the original power supply. Even though I just used safari and mail the device panics many times each day.

I called Apple support and they said it must be a hardware issue.

Same thing has been happening to my new Mac Mini 2018 since I got it a month ago. At least once a day it happens at the most inopportune times. I can be just browsing with Safari or writing an email in Mail app and then my cursor will freeze, keyboard won't respond, and in a few seconds it restarts on its own. Very frustrating.

This is in addition to not unlocking with my Apple Watch and a laggy Magic Mouse 2 that has been unusable with it. My Apple Watch unlocks my iMac and MacBook Pro every time and same Magic Mouse 2 works fine with both. Aaarghhh. I hate issues like this.

@macboyinsf -

I have the same machine as you - a Mac Mini 2018 with the i7 and 32GB of RAM - that I just bought a few months ago and am having seemingly random kernel panics. It can happen while I'm working it hard, while it's sitting idle overnight or anywhere in between. I hate these random-type issues because they're so difficult to narrow down!

This may seem like a random question - but how do you have your Mini placed on your table/desk? I have mine mounted vertically underneath the desk and I've always wondered if my issue is related to heat. But then again, I've read that there are places like Mac Mini Colo that run them vertically 24/7/365. (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Eg17SvkU0AABBKE?format=jpg&name=large) Plus, my fan is almost never audible, so I convince myself that if it was getting too hot, the fan would sound like a plane engine all the time.

Did you upgrade the RAM in yours after purchase?
