macOS High Sierra (mac 21.5 inch mid 2010

i have a message that popped up in the middle of my screen and won't go away. It say's "your computer is low on memory " is there any way i can free up memory space ?

Yes, temporarily anyways. If you get Activity Monitor going (which should be in the Utilities folder) it will allow to see which applications are hogging memory and stop them. If you go to the large Apple icon at the top left of your screen, and then go to "About this Mac" it will tell you exactly how much RAM you have installed. 2 gigs is the absolute bare minimum, with 4 gigs needed to do anything. your iMac supports up to 16 gigs of ram, and is user-upgradeable
