Facetime photos must be enabled on both devices to use this feature.

I recently bought an iphone 11 pro max and whenever I try to Facetime my sister and I try to take a picture of her, it kept on saying “Facetime photos must be enabled on both devices to use this feature”. I have updated my phone (ios 13.5.1), I have turned of the allow facetime live photo’s in settings (waited for a minute), I even shut down my phone.... And it’s still says the same. Can this be fix or should I just get a new phone?

Hello siannxo

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. From what I am understanding is that when using FaceTime with your sister, on attempt to take a photo. You are getting a pop up saying "FaceTime photos must be enabled on both devices to use this feature" and the feature is not able to turn on, correct? Let's take a look into this!

FaceTime Live Photo is a feature that can capture photos for FaceTime calls. Ensure both parties are in countries able to supported for FaceTime Live Photo. Here is an article on FaceTime Live Photo: Take a Live Photo in FaceTime on iPhone

Hey I’ve been getting the same message as well. While on FaceTime it says for my sister “FaceTime photos must be enabled on both devices to use this feature” and me and my sister went through our settings. Region, language, and the setting itself was all set up properly I’ve also tried restarting my phone. I have the iPhone XR on 13.5.1 and nothing seems to work. What do I do?
