Lost Photo Library

A few weeks ago, I kept getting a message that my hard drive was almost full so I tried to clean things up. I have no idea what I did but when I went to open my Photos App, I got this message:


Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library.photoslibrary”


I tried to go back in time on time machine but it only let me go back 1 day and I think this happened almost 2 weeks ago. Are they gone forever or is there some way to get all of my photos back? (I had not backed up on iCloud because I was out of storage).


Any help is REALLY appreciated.

If you do not have a working backup, only data recovery software can help. But recovery software is expensive, and the chances is slim that it can recover files, it the deletion has been a long time ago and your mac has been low on storage. Recovery software is trying to find data on disk blocks, where the deleted files have been. It can recover them, if no new data have been written to these blocks.


You could try a program like Disk Drill, that has a free trial version. You can see, what can be recovered, but will have to pay, before you can save the recovered files:
