Since installing OS Catalina the login window shows the list of users instead of just name and password, despite the fact, that the user and groups preferences are correctly flagged to name and password and not to list of users. I have tried to find a solution the the problem, but without success.
What should I do? Perhaps there exists a terminal command to correct the situation?

Make changes to you preferences, then reboot.
Come back to your preferred preferences and reboot again to trigger a change.

Thanks for your reply. But unfortunately your proposed solution doesn't work. Even though I tried your solution a few minutes ago, I had already tried it in the past. Always without success.
Do you know of any terminal command that solves my problem?
