I am trying to log-in to my iCloud on my PC using Firefox online. In addition to forcing me to change my password prior to verifying my email address it has subsequently requested I do this and I am now unable to log in as it is simply telling me "This email address is not available. Choose a different address." any time I type-in the correct verification code.
No browser should be forcing you to change your Apple ID so I would certainly exercise some caution if ever you're asked that again.
