I purchased a book on iPhone, downloaded to iPhone and MacBookPro -> no problem.
However, cannot open on iPad because it is "formatted incorrectly or is not a format that iBooks can open".
Huh? Never had such a problem before, ever? How to fix? TIA

"Purchased a book" ... from what source? From Apple's Book Store? From somewhere else?
Of course, the purchase was via Apple's Book Store
“Of course”? Really? That certainly was not obvious.
In that case, you may open the Books app on your iPad, tap your Apple ID indicator in the upper right, choose “Books” (or “Updates” if there are any), and re-download the book.
