Icloud Id lock

My nephew has an iPad mini that was given to him as a Xmas gift about 2 years ago I tried to use my account so he could download stuff from App Store and it wouldn’t let me saying it was linked to another iCloud account . So I reset the iPad to factory settings & now it’s icloud lock and i can’t get his iPad set up because it’s asking for that persons iCloud account . What can I do to fix this and link my account to his iPad .??? Please help .

Your Aunt (or whoever’s AppleID was used to previously activate the iPad) may find this guidance helpful...

If you have forgotten your AppleID or associated password, these can be recovered here:

https://iforgot.apple.com

To recover your credentials, you’ll need access to one of the following:

  • Your primary email address mailbox that corresponds with your AppleID
  • Any of the secondary/recovery email addresses that should be configured for your AppleID account
  • Any of the trusted telephone numbers (fixed line or Cellular/Mobile) that are associated with your AppleID

Unless you AppleID account has not been fully/correctly configured, or has been seriously neglected, recovery of the AppleID and password should not be difficult.

When you recover access to your credentials, you would be well advised to log-in to your AppleID account from a web browser - and verify/update any email addresses and trusted telephone numbers:

That’s devastating because my aunt does not remember her password and also she does not have access to the email

address that was used to set up that Apple ID . So basically we have an iPad that we won’t be able to use now .😭 apple doesn’t have any kind of restore service that I can use or any other method to unlock these things .??

No they do not have any method to unlock them. If that were the case it would make the system that is built totally useless. Your aunt can try to get in touch with Apple and let them know that she can’t get into her Apple ID and they can take some information and maybe be able to get her back in to her account or get the email address changed. They will not however, help you do anything with getting the iPad itself unlocked.
