HD/private/var/vm/sleepimage. what is this?

HD/private/var/vm/sleepimage 8.59GB


also HD/private/var/vm/swapfile0 1.07GB


but when i look at the HD the folder "private" is invisable.

When your Mac goes into DEEP sleep, it saves a copy of the RAM memory in this sleep-image file. Then it can power down the RAM to save energy.


When it wakes, it re-loads the sleep image into RAM memory and resumes from where it left off.


Of course you can not read this. It may contain sensitive data. Keep out, less you want your Mac to cash in truly spectacular ways.
