Apple Thunderbolt Display Extension Cable

I need to extend the Thunderbolt connection on my Apple Thunderbolt Display to connect to my 2013 Mac Pro. I purchased a Mini DP Extension Cable (Thunderbolt 2) from Amazon but the display does not come on. I can connect the Thunderbolt display directly to my Mac Pro and the display works fine but I mounted my Mac Pro on the wall and I need an extension cable now. I can't seem to find a cable that will work. Does any one know how I can make this work?

There are no Thunderbolt extension cables, but you can use a long M-M Thunderbolt cable from the Mac to the Thunderbolt port on the back of the display. The display's Thunderbolt cable can then be used to connect to another device, such as a disk drive with a female Thunderbolt port.
