Hi there jjdewan,
Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
If you have not already, please start by going through the "If your display is blank or not detected" section of the Apple Support article you found your way to the communities from, If your external display isn't detected or appears blurry when connected to your Mac - Apple Support. It provides specific steps on verifying your hardware is working, and that your computer supports two external displays.
If you need more help, the steps outlined in the Apple Support article Use one or more external displays with your Mac - Apple Support detail how to connect displays to your Mac. Make sure you have followed the guidance there next, and if the computer still does not recognize the connected displays, follow the steps below. They're taken from the "If your Mac doesn’t detect a connected display" section of the above article:
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu> System Settings, then click Displays
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Press and hold the Option key, then click the Detect Displays button on the right.
You can also try putting your Mac to sleep and then waking it.
If you still need help after that, please get in touch with Apple Support directly. They will be able to provide additional assistance related to your Mac: Get Support.
Have a wonderful day.

Hey again Bbackar, I figured it out. After I uploaded/updated my Intel Macbook Pro to Ventura for some reason the Montior's screen (SamsungM7) setting turned off(which was the confusing part because the monitor still turned on) So I went into the monitor's Accessibility settings, clicked on turn monitor on which made the Samsung's monitor go black until I went into my Mac and clicked on Displays and clicked on the Monitor and viola! Yikes, what a cluster. I hope this helps others with this issue. Cheers
The option is in System Settings under Privacy & Security. The options are "Ask every time", "Ask for new accessories", "Automatically when Unlocked", and "Always". It is in the Security section of the page, just above FileVault. I switched it to Always and will see what happens.
I was able to get them working by following the steps listed here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/450677/macos-13-ventura-would-not-detect-external-monitor
Same also with LG Ultra Fines. Worked OK (not great) under Monterey and zero with the "upgrade". Have to restart, whereupon it recognizes the screens. As soon as it goes into a power save it will no longer recognize and then requires a restart. Read an article in the Forums claiming you need to set Allow accessories to connect to Always in Privacy and Security. Have tried that but too soon to tell if it worked. Using dual identical monitors through a powered USB-C hub.
If you're looking where I and others have described, its still there, unless you're on an Intel chip. I believe that setting is specific to the newer Apple designed chips. In addition to that setting, I found it was also necessary to turn on the option for Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off under the advanced button of the Displays options in Settings.
For LG displays, try setting up the LG display as an Air Play display. The options are on the Home Dashboard application. Use the select input button on your control and then select Home Dashboard. After setting up AirPlay, see if you can find the monitor on Setup Displays page. I can extend or mirror the home screen to the AirPlay screen. I'm still not sure what's going on but this seems to work. I may be able to turn on and off AirPlay from the airPlay and HomeKit settings. I only have one LG monitor which I used to connect via HDMI Port 1 but that doesn't seem to work now. I have an Insignia USB-C adapter with ports for USA a 3.1, HDMI, and powered USB-c.
Is this problem only occurring with LG monitors. If so, it could be a problem with LG code, since they frequently update their monitors with additional. Anyone having this problem with monitors that do not contain WebOS applications, please inform the community.
I am having the same issue, just updated to the latest Ventura version 13.0.1 and now my MacBook Pro can't see my external Ultrafine LG monitor. no problem before. The articles you shared to fix this don't work.
I'm working with a 2017 MB pro and (2) 2022 Studio Displays via Usb-c. When I search "Allow Accessories", nothing comes up on my Ventura 13. I've tried to detect the display, won't work. Basically Apple told me to wait 2-3 months for an update which is an unfavorable solution. Furthermore, this has effected by keyboard commands in Autodesk. Hoping this is resolved much faster than that. Not sure how the upgrade was rolled out without solution.
I don't mean to be rude but this is entirely non-helpful. If you read the question, its pretty clear that what the person means is that the Mac no longer detects the external monitors after it was updated to Ventura. Your suggestions are only relevant if the Mac hadn't detected the monitors at all! I had the same problem and found the answer by searching in the forums. It's a shame Apple doesn't place it as a pinned topic at the top of all relevant questions. Pls see below for the answer.
Hi, thank you for sharing. Frankly speaking I do not see in my settings any of allow accessories to connect option. I went thru all the list.
So once again, question to apple support - how should we fix the problem. My monitors stopped working after update to Ventura, before, everything worked perfect without problems.
Problem is, that macbook does not recognize connected monitors, at all!
When is apple providing an OS update to resolve this? I've spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple, reset, ran test users, reinstalled the OS, etc. Nothing has worked and this is extremely frustrating to not have dual external monitors functioning.
Hard to give u any suggestions w/o knowing what hardware/OS version ur on. I have Apple silicon (M1) and 13.1. I've read this setting is new to Ventura, so if you're not on that, it won't be available, but it also shouldn't be a problem. ;-)
I had the same problem when I updated to Ventura, with LG monitors. Here's the location of the setting to allow accessories to connect. This solved my problem, hope it fixes yours.
Thanks a lot! This helped me with the same problem with Philips monitor.
