Unknown Senders Function in Messages NOT working!

Since I recently started to receive spam text messages I enabled the "filter unknown senders" function in the messages settings. However the function does NOT seem to work at all. When doing some research online it appears that this function does not seem to work for a lot of people. I am wondering now if Apple just left this piece of SW code inside the IOS without it functioning properly. Anyone has any advice on this? I know that there are 3rd party apps with monthly/yearly fees that help with that issue, however if the functionality is in the IOS of the iPhone I would prefer using it without paying extra.

Thanks & Best regards

I believe like Demo suggests you are confusing iMessage with SMS messages. iMessage is exclusively through Apple Servers. SMS messages come through your carriers servers. Apple has total control over data flowing to and from its servers. Apple has NO control over data flowing through a carriers servers.

The reason you believe the software doesn't work is Apple can't control data coming to you from your carrier. You should reach out to your carrier and let them know you think they should do a better job of filtering messages from Unknown Senders. I have done that myself. But I don't blame Apple for something out of their control.

iMessages from iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches or Macs. See the response that got an Apple recommenced award here.

Filter Unknown Senders not working

Many services use SMS messages to contact people for variety of reasons, like getting a verification code sent to a device that comes over as an SMS. If those messages couldn’t come over because it was from an unknown sender, you would never get the code.
