can i restore my backup from an old iphone to a new one without losing the pictures on the current one?

Since I'm not really an expert in that area, I asked a friend to do it. Instead of transferring the pictures, it transferred the 2018 backup from my old iphone 7. When you restore from a backup, your data on new iPhone will be completely removed. I would recommend to use this article to save photos somewhere else first https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201313
