iTunes keeps asking to verify payment information

I am using 9.2.1 (although this problem started with iTunes 9.2 sometime) and iTunes keeps asking me to verify my payment information whether I am using my iPhone, iPad or my iMac. I verify and the transaction goes ahead. It does not matter whether it is a free update for an App on my iPad or iPhone or purchasing music or a TV Show on my iMac. The error message is that a transaction has taken place on a new device or computer and that it needs to verify my payment information.

The verification lists my card data and address etc. correctly but I need to keep entering the card security number.

Support keep telling me to delete and re-enter my car info which does not help. Anyone else seen this issue?

Seems to be something to do with a new security check they have put in the system that does not work correctly and support is totally incapable of helping me out.

HERE IS THE FIX!!!

I just spent 3 days with 5 support agents figuring this out.

#1: You cannot verify via your ATV or the Apple Store online. You can only do it via the iTunes program on your computer.

#2: Check that you have the latest version of iTunes. I had PC V10.7 and every time I clicked the upgrade pop up my antivirus alerted the page was blocked. I finally got the 12.1 upgrade via the help/upgrade within the 10.7

#3: After the DL and install, the 12.1 stated I needed to verify my billing info. I signed in and the only thing missing was the CC 3 digit security code.

After clicking DONE (not found in the online account/billing, where the SAVE does nothing for this issue)... my ATV and other iTunes functions all worked.

The last tech I spoke with said he would pass this up the food chain and get it published ASAP in the various forums.

I had the same issue. ITunes doesn't always show an accurate balance, so you may have used it and owe money. If this is the case it doesn't seem to want to take into account any iTunes cards you have put on your account. To fix this here is what I did:

Purchase an iTunes card and redeem it to your account. Log into your account and go to purchase history. If you owe money it will show in red I believe. At the bottom chose the pay button. iTunes should then deduct what is owed from the amount you put into your account. Your new balance should then be reflected on your account. This clears the charges and resets it again and you should be able to make purchases. I hope this helps.

If you entered credit card information in the past you can dissociate it from your Apple ID as follows.

On an iOS device

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap iTunes & App Stores:User uploaded file
  3. Tap your account and select "View Apple ID".
  4. Select
    Payment information
    :
    User uploaded file
  5. Select
    None
    :
    User uploaded file
  6. Confirm with
    Done
    .

On a Mac

  1. Open App Store.app:User uploaded file
  2. Select menu Store>View My Account.
  3. In the Apple ID Summary section locate the Payment Information line and click
    Edit >
    :
    User uploaded file
  4. Select
    None
    as payment method:
    User uploaded fileUser uploaded file
  5. Click
    Done
    to confirm.

If you don't see a "none" option, you may need to disable family sharing and then try the above steps again.
