Your phone storage cannot be upgraded. It will always be the storage capacity you bought. In order to make more room, you must delete photos, messages, apps., etc. Anything you want to keep should then be stored on your computer or external disc. You bought icloud space which is a synching service used to keep devices in synch.

I encountered a similar issue last week with my phone that I haven't been able to rectify. Noticed that along with it saying storage is full, performance has been very slow, not getting emails/messages, etc. Would love some help!

What is your iPhone model? iphone 8 Plus

How much storage (16GB, 32GB, etc.) did it come with? 64GB

What iOS are you currently using? 13.5.1

In the Settings App go to iPhone Storage (General>iPhone Storage). How many GB of storage does says you’ve used (out of your total storage)? 61.8GB (but that has been varying)

Which type of files (photos, apps, etc.) take up the most space - Apps take up most followed by system.

The storage size of each app on your phone (listed from largest to smallest)- iphotos -2.22GB; Books 1.45GB; Weather Channel 1.22GB; AccuWeather 810MB (no idea why weather apps take so much space).

System size—the iOS and related data—is at the bottom. System can use a large amount (5 GB+) of your available storage. 5.75GB

Did you totally delete the apps or offload the apps? - Deleted unused apps to delete space, also emptied "trash can" on deleted emails.

Deleting an app removes the app and all app data. Offloading apps deletes the app itself but saves app data (to use if you re-download app). App data can be greater than the app itself; data takes up storage if app is offloaded.

I have a solution....I had the same issue and it showed up all of a sudden. So yesterday I called Apple Support and what they told me was I needed to back up and reset my phone. Come to find out I didn't have enough space on my computer to backup. So what I figured out was I needed to update my phone. I never do the update right away apparently I waited to long and it bogged down my storage. I went to update and it wouldn't let me not enough space. So here's what I did...got to

-Settings

-General

-iphone Storage

-Click on the App

-then Offload App

You'll want to do that for the top apps those are the ones that are taking up the most space. Not to worry you won't have redownload the apps. I wrote mine down just in case, I didn't know what to expect. I offloaded about 10 or so apps. Then I tried the update again. It updated. Then I looked at my home screen and those apps I offloaded were still there and all I had to do was just click the app to update it. Everything was fixed. I now have storage available.

I hope this helps!
