Mac goes back to login screen randomly - Mac pro 2013 -

Hello, I have a problem, hope someone can help.

My Mac Pro 2013 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 - 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 - AMD FirePro D300 2 GB

on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G5033) is randomly going back to the login screen while I am using it.

It could happen simply while browsing on chrome or using software like capture one or photoshop.

It could happen once or twice a day or once a week.

The mac first freeze with the rainbow spinning wheel first and then it kick you back to the login screen.

I have noticed if you log back in the mac is quite unresponsive, but if you restart it it goes back to normal.

As external peripherals I have jus a Logitech mouse and a Yottamaster HD USB enclosure.

I haven't update to Catalina yet as I am using capture one 11 which is not supported and the updgrade is quite pricey.

Thank you for your help.

I'm not sure this will fix but it will surely help to isolate if your drivers are causing an issue.

Please reboot into safe mode and see if you can reproduce the same issue.

Incase you need info about safe mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Note: Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

1)

See if you have a panic report (file's ending in .panic).  If you have more than 1, please post a couple as the differences can be very useful:

Look for the Kernel Panic reports at:

Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

<http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

The panic report should have ".panic" in the file name.

You can put the panic report in an "Additional Text" box when you Reply

If, AND ONLY IF, you have difficulty posting via "Additional Text"

then try posting to PasteBin.com, and give us a PasteBin URL link.

Please post the EtreCheck output as a "Reply" to this thread (you can use the FREE mode)

Click on the Share icon and select "Copy Report"

And then Paste the report as a "Reply" to this thread using an "Additional Text" box.

EtreCheck is a tool that helps Apple Support Community volunteers debug problems without any access to the troubled computers. Debugging problems can be a difficult task even when the machine is in front of you. Attempting it via a discussion forum is extremely difficult. EtreCheck is a great help in that regards.

You should also try an SMC reset and an NVRAM reset

An SMC reset and an NVRAM reset are not harmful, and sometimes they actually are useful.

Hi Bob, thank you very much for the detailed reply.

I have checked that folder, although I do not have .panic report I have many .crash report. Of those many are related to the wacom tablet driver of my bamboo CTH-470 which is not officially supported on Mojave.

Another crash report is related to "Window server" which i have not idea what is for.

Do you reckon this should be the issue? If so i will have to bin a working wacom tablet just because of a driver..

I have tried few times smc and nvram reset but after awhile the issue resurface.

Attached the most 2 recent crash report related to Wacom and Window server

Thank you again for your help!

All the best

Luca
