iTunes no longer able to connect to Bose Soundlink Air - what's changed?

I gave a 2012/13 SoundLink Air which I have been using for years.

Suddenly not able to connect via Airplay (itunes) with my old Mac (running OSX 10.6.8), which it has been doing fine for years.

It still works fine with my iPad (6th gen) so I know the speaker is working.

Have tried a reset but still get this error message on iTunes;

"An error occurred while connecting to the airplay device - Bose Speaker. An unknown error occurred (10)."

Both items are on same wi-fi network.

Any insight out there? I can't see that anything else has changed.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately this didn't help as it appears my Mac is too old to run the version of iTunes it now needs to be able to use AirPlay.

It used to work fine, but I'm guessing some kind of update has been applied and only later versions of iTunes (later than the 11.4 version I'm running) will now work with AirPlay.

I've been talking with Apply support and they don't offer a solution. It's disappointing and frustrating to have to deal with this gradual obsolescence.

My Mac runs OSX 10.6, which can only upgrade to iTunes 11.4, whereas I understand I now need to be running iTunes 12 or later.

Any further or workaround insights would be useful.
