If you have been using 2FA for longer than 2 weeks it is permanent and cannot be deactivated.

ASC - Late 2012 Mac mini, macOS 10.15.5; Watch, series 5 GPS/cellular, watchOS 6.2; iPad Air 2, ipadOS 13.5.1; iPhone 8+, iOS 13.5.1; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 13.4.6; HomePods, audioOS 13.4.6 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2
I have been an Apple fan for a long time but I don't think taking control of what I want to do with my authentication process is up to Apple. I should always have the right to turn on and off any application that involves my personal devices.
I strongly agree. This policy really turns me off from continuing with Apple products. Why wouldn’t they keep it an option to switch back out of 2-factor authorization in case you go down to one Apple device? How will I be able to get a new phone if my old one dies- it’s the only Apple product I have!
Yes, Apple, what happens when my phone dies or goes through the washing machine. We pay really good money for the devices we purchase from you but the bottom line is once we purchase you have no right to control things like not allowing us to turn on 2 factor!!
So I need to spend more money to turn off something that should be my right to have or have not? Really!! I think you're invading my right to determine what and how I manage my personal devices. I think this is approaching a legal issue.......

What will cost you more money? Do you have absolutely no access to another device or phone line? No friends or relatives who have phone numbers? Are you outside of the U.S (inside you can get a Google Voice number)?
You're starting to wine a bit. I shouldn't need to access to another device. I have the legal right to turn on and off a control. You're going down the wrong path and I suggest you re-evaluate who the consumer is and who spends the money on products. You don't get to tell us how to manage our device security!

No, I don't get to tell you what to do. But then, I don't work for Apple. And I don't have a legal and fiduciary responsibility to protect your data stored on my servers. But, Apple does.
But, feel free to send me wine. It's been a rough week.

I think you have nailed it. I will submit to Apple just to see if they have a wavier for customers that will release them if you want to have 2 factor removed.
If there is such a thing, it must come with a non-disclosure agreement because no one has ever reported getting such a thing.
I don't want two factor. Please help me turn it off. I don't have a verification email saying I enrolled. I am less than two weeks I just accidentally turned it on. Let me give this feedback to you APPLE, TWO FACTOR SUCKS. Please unenroll me ASAP.
i searched online on how to turn off 2 fa. it told me to push the security edit button, then turn off the 2 fa. well, there is no button to change the settings. i tried with chrome, and with edge. both don't have the edit button. help please

If you have had 2FA enabled for more than 14 days, you cannot turn it off. It it has been less than 14 days, you can turn it off using the link in the enrollment confirmation email.
unfortunately does me little good to chase trusted numbers in case iphone is misplaced and then trying to find it using "find my" yet i need to get a verification code on the same iphone that i am looking for? seems stupid IMO and adding e-mail would help or allow the 2-factor to be turned on/off at will my preference. my line of work is not sitting at a desk all day rather out running in the field at multiple locations. my trusted number list is getting ridiculous.
I wonder what happens when we get a new machine. Does 2-factor authentication look at hardware?
The funny thing about 2-factor authentication is when it displays on the machine it wants to trust. For instance, every day I go to https://appleid.apple.com/ using the same browser on the same iMac. Every week or so, it goes through the 2-factor authentication procedure, but displays the code on that same iMac as well as on my phone & watch. I move that window out of the way so that I can see it as I copy it to that same Mac.
How is that secure? Why didn't it remember that I told it to trust that site?

could you also give me the link to turn the two factor authentication off, it's also driving me bonkers. thanks
No, we can't. You can't turn it off. If you explain what problems you're having with it, I'm sure someone can help you learn how to use it properly.
All I can find are more desperate people trying to TURN OFF this 2 factor thing ... Where are the answers of how to do it? I have always been a HUGE IPhone lover/supporter/user --- this could be my game changer! It says if it's less than 2 weeks - you can turn it back off - waiting for APPLE to open - and calling! If I find out how I will be back and tell you.
