If you have been using 2FA for longer than 2 weeks it is permanent and cannot be deactivated.

All I can find are more desperate people trying to TURN OFF this 2 factor thing ... Where are the answers of how to do it? I have always been a HUGE IPhone lover/supporter/user --- this could be my game changer! It says if it's less than 2 weeks - you can turn it back off - waiting for APPLE to open - and calling! If I find out how I will be back and tell you.

The answer has been given repeatedly: if it has been enabled for more than 14 days, you CANNOT TURN IT OFF. I don't know how much simpler I can make that.

I DID IT!!! AAAHHH!!! Several above have indicated - I guess I should have made myself more CLEAR - It had happened TO ME literally 30 MINUTES before I got on here looking for a solution! I knew the part about 2 weeks... ANYWAY - I ended up calling support - SUPER NICE and helpful! As soon as he said - "have you CHECKED your email?" I remembered that's how I fixed the one time before that it happened. You SHOULD get an email that is linked to your apple ID ASKING if you CONFIRM the "upgrade". All you have to do is check NO and it will take you back to your previous version. I did have to come up with a new password - but that fixed it. I will add - if, in fact, you are within the 2 weeks - 14 days - and you still have trouble - CALL THEM! They will talk you right through it! Hope this helps someone out there! YOU CAN TURN OFF 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION!!!

Yes, the fact that you need to go through the enrollment email has been explained several times in this thread, including in the answer marked "Apple recommended".

I sincerely greatly apologize for not seeing the answer earlier. I should have stated that better when I asked how to turn it off. I genuinely did not see the answer in the thread - or I wouldn't have asked for help. I sure hope others will see my answer & it helps them .

I kept seeing something about a "link" to something. I did see that in almost every question??? Maybe that held the answer?

Again, very sorry - I had not found nor seen the answer.

This policy needs to be reviewed. I lost my phone, my watch was on 5% so I couldn't ping it. I needed to verify two factor to get into icloud. They sent authentication to my email address. WELL Gmail now ask that you open the APP on your device to verify yourself logging into an unknown location. So without MY PHONE, I could not verify my location with Gmail. It's redundant and DOES NOT HELP in the manner it should when you really need help. Then it ask to send the code to my PHONE WHICH IS LOST. please make it make sense.

Most definitely asked me, otherwise I would have not wrote my comment.

I did not overlook that option at the bottom, so as stated previously. The policy should be reviewed OR make sure when I click to use Find my phone it doesn’t cycle me to put in the code. If you work for Apple push that up. If you’re not an Apple employee, your opinion is moot.

This no longer works. Even when creating a new account mere hours ago, it cannot be turned off. It says "If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll within two weeks of enrollment. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. "

Since new accounts don't get an enrollment email, you are just plain screwed. Looking forward to the day our company will ditch all these horrid apple devices for some good Samsung ones.

I want turn off two-factor authentication . But i can't turn off it.
