iPhone Timer doesn't sound if period is same as screen lock

If I set a timer on my iPhone for the same time interval as my "Auto-Lock" Display setting, and then I don't touch the phone during that period, the timer will not sound, or the sound will be cut off almost immediately. For example, I have Auto-Lock set to 5 minutes. If I set a timer for 5 minutes and leave the phone alone for that time, the timer expires without the phone making any sound at all. A timer set for 4 or 6 minutes works correctly. This started happening several months ago, and it happens every time now. How can I fix this? This is on an iPhone 8 with iOS 13.5.

Hello bythescruff,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that the Timer on your iPhone doesn't make a sound if you've set a timer for the same time as your Auto-Lock setting. I can see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help. I'd recommend trying these steps first:

I'd also suggest updating to the most recent iOS release: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
