I have managed to get it back working as a telephone!

I did the following steps:

  • Back-up phone to computer.
  • Erase without restore
  • Warnings that it wouldn’t restore the iPhone because it needed an update.
  • Sure enough when the iPhone came back to life, it would not restore.

Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201263

  • On a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier, open iTunes. If iTunes is already open, close it, then open it again.
  • iPhone 7 : Press and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons AT THE SAME TIME. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.
  • Told me it was going to recover the iPhone.
  • iPhone 7 came back to life and Vodafone appeared!!
  • With it connected to iTunes it did a Restore as above.
  • It took about an hour to restore. And even longer to download all my apps.

Since update 13.5.1 version cause my iCloud to go weird. First I will be login my iCloud all be good. Then in a few days later it would ask me to login my password again. Nope won’t let me login. That was a few days of frustrating. Then I contact Apple & a nice person say to reset my iPhone, and I did. Now the password won’t work & go through. The next day I contact Apple again & this other nice person said to backup your phone, then erase the phone. I tried to sign in my iCloud through my iPhone & nope it still didn’t work at all. Then I tried computer iTunes, first it didn’t work. I got some of my informations & I still couldn’t login into my iCloud. Then I tried again erase my iPhone & iTunes, and I got my stuff back but I still can’t login Into my iCloud. So Frustrated

Mine has gone down again. NO Cellular network. Wifi calling is working though which it wasn't yesterday. Thought after spending a day on this yesterday I had it sorted. Spoke to EE yesterday they could only offer the advice to ring Apple as it's only happened due to the software update to 13.5.1

Come on Apple get this issue sorted please and quickly!!! My phone is a business tool and I can't do without it, you're costing me money now! :-(

I've spoken Apple directly on the phone. They are aware and said it's affecting some EE and O2 customers here in the UK but not all of them. I have friends and my wife is on Vodafone, they have no issues what so ever and have had 13.5.1 installed for over a week now. I'm going to leave EE and go to Vodafone I think. The Apple tech agent said they should hopefully have a fix out in a few days but that doesn't help me now. I too have started to charge up my old iphone 6. Trouble with that is most of my clients contact me through WhatsApp and that message system doesn't like swapping between different phones, so you end up loosing half the conversations.

I’m in the US. I have Verizon. I can power off then back on and get service anywhere from 2 minutes to a couple of hours-but my iPhone 7 is consistently reverting to “No Service” or “ searching”

PLEASE APPLE!! This is more than an inconvenience.

Nothing to do with Apple. Verizon has a large scale outage—>https://downdetector.com/status/verizon/ and

Ok you could be right on the Vodafone thing... just tried my wifes Vodafone SIM card and it made no difference. Strange how no Vodafone customers here in UK aren't having this issue. Well that's what the Apple senior tech agent told me!

Be interesting to hear from any UK Vodafone customers that are having this issue.

Seems to be centered on London & Manchester, with scattered other areas.

Yep - I’m a Vodafone “customer”. Although the erase/restore

option got me back my iPhone 7 from being a brick it still crashes back to No Service several times a day.

Steps I take are:

— Flight mode

— Turn off iPhone 7

— Turn on iPhone 7

— turn flight mode off.

if that fails, try turning Location off.

then repeat above.

if that fails, try “reset network settings”. Then repeat above.

If your phone recently updated to IOS 13.5.1, you should check on these threads how to try to clear it if the bug. (Sorry I don’t have time right now to list them all!) worst case scenario, you might have to back up your phone either to iCloud or iTunes, erase it, then restore from backup. That worked for me.

I don’t think hot is the network. My wife has an iPhone 5 on Vodafone and she makes phone calls all of the time (!).

My daughter has an iPhone 8 on Vodafone and is on iOS 13.5.1 (she updated before I could tip her off not to) and it is not affected by this issue.

When my iPhone 7 crashes with the Apple symbol and comes back with “No Service” BOTH of their phones are continuing to work.
