IPad won't awaken from sleep

Since the latest iOS update, my iPad refuses to awaken from sleep when the magnetic cover is opened. I have to restart by holding home and power buttons down. I've tried different "sleep after" settings including the "never" setting. I suspect something with the new power saving, battery life software but I don't know.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks, QuickPost. I've done all that several times and have narrowed down the issue (I think) to the magnetic cover sleep mode. Before the latest software update, when I opened the cover, the screen came on and I could enter my passcode or finger print and I was good to go. Now, when I close the cover, there is an audible "click" and when I open the cover again... nothing but black screen. Then I have to mess with the buttons in some sequence to bring it back to life. I've set the magnetic cover slider to "on" and the sleep timer to "never" but it doesn't help.

Thanks for your input.
