I used to be able to change the thumbnail images on my mp4 video files. I used to take snapshots of my videos main titles and then slide them over to the info section of each folder and the thumbnails would then show the title page of the videos. I can't do that any longer. Any suggestions????

I just tried it on an ExFat formatted thumb drive and the new pasted thumbnail did not appear until I dismounted, then remounted the drive. Maybe try ejecting your external drive and the remounting?
Open your chosen image and copy it. Use Get Info, select the icon in the top left, and paste.
It's possible this behavior is related to ExFat which is not an Apple disk format (it was created by Microsoft). ExFat is not as robust as Apple's HFS+ Journaled format and can corrupt more easily. Does this drive need to be connected to a Windows PC? If not, I'd suggest formatting as HFS+.
1) There are files that are flagged in the report as possibly adware.
Review them and if you are not familiar with them, run Etrecheck again and follow the instructions to remove them.

3) Soundflower is great, but in Catalina you need to use version 2.0b2. Older versions do not work
As Tom says, you need to select the icon and then paste your copied image. Something changed at some point in MacOS though, the pasted thumbnail image has become much lower resolution.
No, I'm doing outside of FCPX, but I'm also having problems getting the correct titles to appear even though I have chosen the selected snapshot and attaching it at time of sharing the project. Thanks
Sorry but I'm a video amateur and I may have some difficulty explaining my issues. I used to go to a file, click on it, select info and then slide my chosen picture over the small icon on the top left of the info section and that would change the image. Now I can't do that anymore. Hope that this explains my situation. Thanks
That's what I've been doing after viewing several tutorials in YouTube, but that's not working. One of them even said that my snapshot had to be a perfect square, so I changed to a perfect square and still, nothing happened. I'm working on 4K, mp4 video files that I have on my external drive for replay on my TV as those files are too large for disks. When I pull up the files on my TV I would like to see the titles appear so that it's easier for me to select and open the files for playback. Thanks
Thanks Tom and Terry. I'm going to go back and try reducing the resolution of the pictures to see if that helps. The process used to be very simple and alway seemed to work for me. I guess that one of the recent updates may have altered the process as now it's not working at all for me. Thanks and I'll let you know how I did.

Thanks Terry. Tried that several times and nothing happened at all. I really appreciate your stepping in and trying to help me thru this though. I'm just going to have to learn to live with this going forward. I cannot understand why Apple changes their operating system every time that they do an update. Anyway, that's another story. Hi and thanks for your help Luis. I'm trying to attach the Etrecheck report but I'm getting a message that it exceeds the application limits. I tried Add-Text and that didn't work either. Doesn't seem to be my week does it. I saved the report and could possibly send it to you as an attachment to an email if that's OK by you.

Thanks again Luis. I never installed Catalina due to the horror stories that I got from some of my friends who installed it shortly after its inception. I'll jump on the symantec and the adware you pointed out. I'll let you know how that all pans out. Thanks
