Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter

My first HDMI adapter for my iPad worked perfectly for almost two years, until it just stopped working. The iPad charging port stopped working first, then the HDMI port quit. I bit the bullet and purchased a brand new product from Apple on March 20, 2020.

Of course, the return window from Amazon closed on May 31, just in time for my TWO-MONTH OLD ADAPTER to quit working. The HDMI port does not connect to my iPad or my TV now, but the charging port still works. Now all I have is a very expensive and cumbersome charging cord.

I'm going to waste more time trying to get Apple to send me a new one, but I'm not hopeful. For more than $40, these adapters should not fail so easily. I do not abuse my adapters, I don't travel with them, I don't put heavy objects on them. Apple needs to fix this horrible design issue!

Hi, Betsy OLeary.

I'm glad you decided to reach out on the Apple Support Communities. I was sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your Lightning to Digital AV Adapter. Working with Apple toward a possible replacement is a great idea. If you haven’t already, I would try some troubleshooting to ensure it’s a hardware issue with your adapter before contacting them.

For example, start with the “Get help” section in About Apple Digital AV Adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Does anything here help?

All my best.
