Webcam automatically zooms in during videocall MacBook Pro 16"

Hi there,

Recently I bought a MacBook Pro 16".

Lately I've noticed that whenever I'm in a videocall, my camera automatically sooms in about 150%.

This happens when meeting in Google Hangouts or MS Teams, without setting the zoom myself.

It was like this out-of-the-box.

Does anyone know how/why this happens and if I can change this?

Thanks in advance,

Bram

Hello brabberto.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that your Mac camera zooms to 150% when using Google Hangouts and Microsoft Teams. I’m happy to help.

Are you able to FaceTime without the camera zooming to 150%?

Please try the steps here: Control access to your camera on Mac - Apple Support

I recommend contacting Google for help here: Hangouts Help

Here’s more information for help on Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Teams help & learning - Office Support

There may be some additional settings or preferences with hangouts and Microsoft Teams that you can set for your camera.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Take care.
