Apple tv4k to Yamaha receiver

how do I connect my Apple TV 4K which only has HDMI connection to my Yamaha receiver that doesn't have an HDMI connector?

Possibly you can connect the Apple TV to the TV, then passthrough audio from the TV to the receiver via optical.

I'd replace the receiver, with a more modern one with HDMI. That's what I did when I was faced with a similar situation. Your current receiver must be about 10 years old or more.
