Heart rate not working watch series 4

The heart rate monitor on my apple watch series 4 stopped working yesterday.

IOS 6.2.6. This is the up to date release on June 12, 2020 according to my watch.

All of the "normal" stuff was tried already (unpairing, privacy settings, turning off and on with phone, etc).

The green led on the back of the watch will flash one time when you start the heart rate app, but won't stay on. The ECG app can't get a reading, either.

Any ideas?
