Audio unit scan failure

Every time I try to open logic I get this "Scanning Audio Units (finalized 0 of 12)" and it never loads, so then I hit abort and then after I do that logic tells me that it is not responding and I cannot get into logic at all. PLEASE HELP!

Try to start without audio driver or boot in AU safe mode.

Then open the plugin manager to find and disable the trouble-makers.

I did that. It didn't work. Logic ignored the key commands and still presented the "scanning AU plugins..." dialog box.

It then continued the dialog cycle of wanting to verify old trial plugins that exist in iLok. (and yes, I deactivated all of those and even hid them" in the iLok manager as well... This is a bigger issue than scanning AU plugins I'm afraid.

It seems like Logic gets caught up in this process and it behaves like a memory leak.
