Watch sensor burns

On the

on the 12 June 2020 I reported and sent pictures of serious sensor burns on my wrist. Apple Informed me they hadn’t heard of burns from the watch. It was never reported before. They would do an investigation and get back to me in five days. I now see there are numerous complaints from watch sensors causing burns. This watch is unsafe and I plan on following up on this.

As mentioned in my previous post, I got this lump on my skin while wearing Apple Watch and still have it there today. I did have it on my skin 10 months ago and still do today. I did discontinue use and see my doctor, which led to me getting rid of the watch. Treatments haven't helped so far. Does the all knowing, all powerful Apple Watch User Guide say anything about when nothing seems to get rid of these 'sensitivities'?

I’m in ON. I’m sure you’re right (others with the same problem). How’s the quality of the underpad ? I’m curious about the charging element itself and whether that plays a role

(wearing down the back and lessens the barrier between skin and device). Mine looks smooth but when I rub my fingers against it, t feels gritty almost. That’s not wear or sensation I’d expect for something that sits on a wrist.

I had the series 3 also. I was told that Apple used a infrared technologies (red light). They then changed to Optical technology (green light) which thought was supposed to be an improvement. The radiation burned through my skin to the bone. I didn’t even feel it happening. In 2 1/2 hours I noticed blood coming from under the watch. The same day I took the watch into an Apple store and showed them the burn. I contacted Apple support without receiving any follow up or satisfaction. I now see even the Series 5 and 6 have caused burns.

That’s insane to hear and not okay by way of a “resolution”. I think I’ve always had the green light OT feature you mention even so, it should not cause that adverse of a reaction and - at the store what did they say? It really doesn’t look as though they are trying to do anything to take accountability for what is clearly a product defect.🤯🤯

The store won’t say or do anything in a situation like this. It basically admits fault for the entire company and causes problems if there’s a lawsuit involved. It’s the same situation with things like batteries exploding in phones or causing burns. The only way anything would ever happen is if you contact the corporate office and arrange to have your watch sent in to be tested if they are willing to do it. This is something that would never be handled at a local Apple Store. Definitely don’t ever expect a resolution if the watch is still in your possession.

April 28, 2021 the Apple watch left a round burn/sore on my wrist. I contacted Apple support and the response were not very responsive. The "engineers" gave options to wash and make sure the band is clean, make sure watch not too loose, consult a dermatologist, or if they replaced it would be a cost to me. There was no acceptance of responsibility that their product had caused and injury.

Why will they not accept it is the actual watch which is the issue? If I forget to put medical silicon tape under my Apple watch I end up with a new burn. Referring us to go to a dermatologist is not the answer, we know the cause. Apple tend to blame nickel

in the watch, but I have never had issues before. We need answers from Apple on how to resolve the issue. An expensive error buying one.

I’ve been to two Dermatologists. I now suffer Sentile Pupura (bleeding under the skin). It will keep coming back and bleeding because the skin is now very thin in that location and there is capillary breakdown. It occurs due to trauma from an injury, being from the watch burn. I have reported this to Apple but no support or action in resolving my problem. Have you reported your burns to Apple support in the US, or are you in Canada?
