Sidecar not working on my Macbook Pro Early 2015

I have a macbook pro early 2015 and an Ipad (6th gen) with apple pencil. The sidecar feature does not appear in system preferences and when I look for it in Finder it says "You can't open the "sidecar" preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time." I don't understand, I believe my equipment meets all the requirements. Both macbook and ipad have the latest updates and connected to the same apple id, and wifi. How can I fix this or where can I take it to be fixed? I can only use my apple pencil with pdf's in my macbook with the new markup feature, but sidecar is not working.

Based on the information you provided, an early 2015 MacBook Pro is not eligible with the use of Sidecar. You'll need a MacBook Pro introduced in 2016 or later for Sidecar. That information is outlined in this article: Use your iPad as a second display for your Mac with Sidecar Specifically the section that says, "Sidecar system requirements."
