iPhone 10s front facing canera

Why is the front facing camera so much worse on the 10s than the 7 or 6. When I I upgraded I was excited to have a amazing camera but instead was disappointed. It’s like there is a beauty filter due to the new HDR feature. I hope apple can change this with a new software update to at least give us the option to turn of the “beauty mode” or whatever it is. It ruins pictures on the real camera and the Snapchat camera as well. Apple please listen to our complaints and make a change because iOS 12 did not help enough.
