Did anyone else see how Apple tells you how you can put music into iMovie and THEN tells you at the end that you probably WON’T be able to do it because nearly ALL the songs in iTunes have drm protection?

1. Only the songs from the Apple Music subscription service are actually DRM protected. Songs you buy directly from iTunes have not been DRM protected for almost a decade.
2. Do note that for commercial productions you would need to acquire the reproduction rights for the song in question from the studio or rights holder. For personal productions this is not necessary.

That’s not my point! Apple leads you to believe you can easily use songs in itunes, but you cannot use any of them! EVEN if you buy the song.

You can use your own music but you can’t use Apple Music tracks as they have DRM.

iMovie nearly useless because a soundtrack is the most important thing in making a professional looking and sounding video.

IMO, this makes iMovie compliant with the laws regarding copyright.

That DRM might have just avoided a mistake, here. Of interest here can be Bensound and other royalty-free music services, lest learning about lawyers and takedown notices and copyright claims ensue.

Actually purchased songs can be used in iMovie Projects.

Songs from the Apple Music subscription service cannot be used.
